Snap it Up

The last day of my Advent Wish List coincides nicely with Stylist's ever wonderful giveaway.
I have a camera, I know. I don't have one small enough to pop in my coat pocket, let alone my bag. I would be one very happy lassie if Santa so desired or if Lady Luck was sprinkling some fairy dust.
Golly I hope so!

Grown-Up Friendship

Dear Santa,
Every year I leave you mince pies and whisky.
Every year you sweetly deliver me presents.
I'd say ours was a life-long friendship.
These bracelets would be a perfect way of showing it.

Well, Colour Me Happy

I know it's a big ask Santa but again I am being waylaid by pretty things (rather than cheap and functional) to furnish my cottage. Look at these completely pretty bowls and wot-not from Anthropologie. Sigh...

Snug as a Bug in a Rug

It's properly exciting, I am renting a cottage in Wales for a few months from January to do some self imposed hibernating to focus on getting lots of painting done, ready for an Open Studio in April/May.

I am giddy with excitement but the reality is the cottage is unfurnished.
All my life I have somehow managed to squander invest in tatt. I've barely a piece of furniture to my name. My father doesn't want to share his stash understandably so I'm looking for the bare essentials.
Hence this lurvely duvet.
£160

The problem is I keep getting distracted by all of these utterly delicious looking pieces from Graham & Green.
So, Santa, would you possibly mind...?!

Santa in a Book Shop

I spent such a lovely half hour in the Taschen bookshop today. It was heaven.
So, for my Christmas Wish List today, please Santa dearest, may I have a little beauty from there?

Perhaps the rather incredible Walton Ford's Pancha Tantra.

Limed Blossoms
Self-Portrait

Or, controversially, Lucas Cranach’s incendiary illustrations for Luther's 1534 Bible: the book that changed Christianity forever.

And Philipp Keel's Simple Diary made me smile.

I wish I'd bought it now.

He'd like that.

Florence Whistles to Leonora

I 'stumbled' on this rather delicious Whistles jersey yesterday. It is super soft with metallic flecked cuffs and collar (hee hee) and deliciously long sleeves. It is channeling the Missoni vibe (clever Whistles) and so I'm not surprised to see it's called Florence.
Sigh... my old home town.

There's no hope in hell that I can afford to buy it sadly having completed my Christmas Shopping - woop woop! So if Santa doesn't look sharp I'm going to have to keep a beady eye on it come the sales as I am lusting big time.

Mara Ho-Ho-Hoffman Santa

Oh Santa, these gorgeous bikinis popped up on net-a-porter the other day & make me want to get straight back to Ngapali Beach. I'd fit in perfectly with the coral & electric blue & orange fishes around White Send Island.
Lust...

The Sweet Smell of Success

Voluspa Golden Cypress candle

Ten years ago my sister bought this Voluspa candle in Urban Outfitters in L.A. It is the most delicious smell.

I found some in Anthropologie and I am really, really hoping that Santa has put one in my stocking. I want to burn it in my studio this winter as I love having a really relaxed atmosphere in there when I work.
Thank you lots Santa x

Unconditional Compassion

For today's Christmas Wish, I'm going a little off center and asking Santa to sprinkle some fairy dust and goodwill on the Foundation of Goodness in Seenigama, southern Sri Lanka. It is a truly wonderful charity that was set up in 1999 by Kushil Gunasekera to provide a sustainable model for rural communities. They have now built other models around the country, in Udamulla and up in the north.

When I went on holiday I volunteered at their Seenigama center. What the people there have managed to achieve is incredible and having spent a week with them, utterly inspiring. They really live and breathe the project and believe in it through and through.

Seenigama has a plethora (I like that word, it sounds odd) of facilities offered to the local community. There is a school with brilliant teachers; computer rooms; housing projects; a medical & drop-in center; dentist; women's empowerment center offering cooking, lace making, sewing, and so many more; sports facilities including giant swimming pool (well done Bryan), cricket pitch (obviously), netball courts, gym, deep sea diving, among other sports. It's incredible.

Vishnu & Children, Seenigama 11.11.11
On the morning of the auspicious 11.11.11 the documentary film maker Vishnu Vasu made a short of the children that were affected by the devastating 2004 tsunami. We went to the beach before school and made a wish as the sun was coming up.

Seenigama at Sunset
I couldn't have loved the people at the Foundation more. They are a beautiful community and were so welcoming. Please do read more about this amazing place. And Santa, please swing by, I'm not sure they've ever seen a reindeer.

Santa ❤ Aleta

I'm almost loathe share this with you I love Aleta and Brigitte Singhs' fabrics so much and I am longing for a house to put them in.

They are hand made block printed materials and are inspired by the 17th to 19th Centuries Mughal Empire. I am staying with my cousin at the moment and she brought the Gustav Peony Piqué back from India with her. I think it is the prettiest bedroom that I have ever stayed in.

Add Some Sparkle

Another little dose of winter chic - a Tina Sparkle soft-as-butter shawl please Santa.

Sling it on your Sleigh Santa

I can't begin to describe how perfect these Nestrests would look down by the Boathouse at my father's in Wales. It is the most romantic place I know. Hanging from the tree over the river, just like this one, you could watch all of the salmon, trout and dragonflies pottering about. Heavenly summer days.

Santa, I know they're rather cumbersome for your sleigh but golly how romantic-inducing they'd be come May!

Nestrest
The Nestrests are designed by two Parisians, Daniel Pouzet and Fred Frety.

Another designer from Bobby Dekeyser's Dedon group is Richard Frinier from Los Angeles, creator of 'The Orbit'. He says "my design seems to convey the passion that I felt during their creation."

The Orbit

A Cosy Wish

As Winter sets in and the reality that it really is going to get (a lot) colder dawns, I realise that piling on the layers of thermals, jerseys and bulky coats just doesn't cut it. It's kinda nice to look chic once in a while, rare as that may be, and to feel toasty warm. Cue, these Ducie jackets (and a gorgeous green dress for good measure).

So to Father Christmas, or anyone else who is feeling at all generous and would like me to feel deliciously, err... rabbit-like, I'm very enthusiastic about any of these please!
